Strange Stories 2

It is a fact that the figure of the devil and other categories of infernal beings have haunted the imagination of society since the beginning of time, both in theater, paintings, literature and other forms of art; and cinema is no different. This time, Strange Stories 2 joins these films acclaimed by audiences and critics to tell its own stories within this horrifying subgenre, in a very Brazilian way.

Depoimentos do Público

"In the first segment, Além do Silêncio (Henrique Nuzzi), we share the pain of Sarah (Sarah Ananda Scaravelli), a young woman who had her love (Daniel Pedro Martins) mysteriously ripped from her arms. The pastel tones of the scenery, mixed with quick strobe shots and bright colors similar to the classics of the seventies, propel us straight into the character's melancholy while a strange apparition indicates that the cause of all the suffering is yet to come."
"Necromântica, by Rodrigo Aragão, presents us with a story based on the 'tales' of the people of the countryside. Two swindlers (Elias Aquino and Eldon Gramlich) visit an old witch (Mayra Alarcón) who can consult the spirits of the dead. Both want to know where a fortune in gold has been hidden, but they have no idea that their ambition will cost them much more. Caricatured as a cordel story, this segment is one of the most visually beautiful."
"The segment Insonho (José Pedro Lopes) tells the story of Filipe (João Delgado Lourenço), a young man who meets an old love of his life (Lília Lopes), but has his life changed by sudden tears in the fabric of reality caused by a mysterious being. This segment was produced by a Portuguese-Brazilian team and was filmed entirely in the city of Porto, Portugal."

"In Spalla (Filipe Ferreira), a violinist (Marcello Crawshaw) is tormented by hidden forces fueled by a deadly secret. Driven by grief, he travels to a desolate place and struggles to rehearse the classic Le Trille Du Diable (by Giuseppe Tartini), before madness – or something even more deadly – consumes him completely. Filipe Ferreira presents us with one of the most macabre segments of the anthology."
"How complicated can an exorcism be? In Carpe Diem Daemonium, Ricardo Ghiorzi answers this bizarre question. In the plot, we follow a priest (Márcio de Oliveira) who answers an emergency call from a teacher at an old art school (Leila Silveira). A demonic possession has been diagnosed, but not everything is as it seems…"
"Finishing the anthology, we have the beautiful segment Cumaru, by Salles Fernandes. In a dreamlike Amazon, local folklore is mixed with the horrors of revenge. Illegal loggers (Maurício Ricardo and Saulo Reichert Fernandes) take the life of one of the 'daughters of the jungle' and the price they will pay will be much worse than death itself."
